Poolside Decorating - Keep things light, bright and kid friendly.

Families with backyard pools tend to be magnets on the really hot days of summer. Neighborhood friends and family are likely to visit more often if a refreshing dip in the pool can be had.

It can be really fun to decorate your poolside area for you to enjoy with your family and your guests.

Bright primary colors will draw attention to your pool and instantly put swimmers in a summertime frame of mind. Play with colors that are designed to give a relaxed feel, like a candied palette.

Provide plenty of fun atmosphere with bins full of pool toys and kid sized seating all around.

Decorate with safety in mind. Do not use any breakable or glass items when you decorate around your pool. Any items underfoot such as stepping stones or walkways need to be slip resistant, and preferably heat resistant to protect little bare feet on scorching days.

Decorate using items that provide visual pleasure as well as function. There are many items on the market that offer the form and function you need in your poolside décor.

Provide sitting and lounging areas in both full sun and shaded areas.

Brightly colored beach umbrellas and canopies will add bursts of color to your poolside décor while providing a respite from the sun’s rays.

Adding climbing flowers to fencing not only provides an esthetically pleasing environment, but privacy as well.

Benches that double as storage units can hold pool toys and towels.

Planters on casters can be wheeled around to mask unsightly pool filters and equipment.
